Disease, Uncleanness and Vaccination
God sometimes uses disease to get our attention (Deuteronomy 28:21). Sickness in the Bible often came as a result of transgression of God’s laws, moral or physical (Exodus 5:3). For example, Miriam was stricken with disease when she sinned by gossiping against God’s appointment of Moses to leadership (Numbers 12:1-10). Uzziah became diseased when he disobeyed the temple rules of order (2 Chronicles 26:19-21). Gehazi was stricken with disease when he allowed covetousness to control his life (2 Kings 5:25-27). Israel was struck with pestilence when David sinned by numbering them (2 Samuel 24). Israel also received pestilence when they departed from God into heathen practices at Baalpeor (Numbers 25). If your life is not right with God, disease is one of His messengers to bring you back into the channel of His life-giving love (1 Corinthians 11:28-30). It is a call that you do not want to mistake or overlook (Psalms 95:6-8). God’s true healing or preservation from disease can come only as we observe His laws, both physical (aka natural) and spiritual (Exodus 15:26).
In His Word, God tells us about infections and infectious diseases and how to handle them. God’s instruction is very serious. His solution takes in to consideration your health as well as your salvation (Psalms 67:2).
If you becomes diseased, it is in God’s purpose that God Himself shall be your physician and healer (Psalms 103:3). God’s enemy, Satan, also has an agenda. It is Satan’s goal to defile us, to make us unclean and to destroy us, but Jesus came to bring life and to bring it more abundantly (John 10:10). Really, there is no true healing apart from the healing which God, the Creator, can perform. All other healings are a deception and do not result in truely abundant health (Jeremiah 6:14). Part of the removal of disease includes the removal of the sin for which the disease was suffered (Leviticus 14:1-20). When pestilence comes, what are we to do? We are to humble ourselves, and pray, to seek God’s face, and turn from any wicked ways; then He will hear from heaven, and will forgive our sin, and heal. (2 Chronicles 7:13-14).
God’s desire is to live out His character in you (Colossians 1:27). With God living out His character from within us, we in essence become His dwelling place or, in figure, a temple for Him (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). He can only achieve this if we are free from all defilement. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). God wants us to be His special undefiled treasure (Exodus 19:5-6). For this reason, He separates us from the uncleanness that is in this world of sin: “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18).
God makes it abundantly clear that He does not tolerate the mixing of the unclean (diseased) with the clean (healthy) (Leviticus 10:10). A diseased person was considered defiled or unclean and was separated from healthy people—they were quarantined (Leviticus 13:44-46, Leviticus 15:1-15). Anyone who touched a sick person, or even touched anything he had touched or sat on, was defiled thereby or “unclean” (Leviticus 5:2-3) and was to be cut off from the congregation of Israel (Leviticus 7:21) a very ominous sentence.
It is not of God’s order for man to take disease or any part thereof, which makes one unclean or defiled, and inject it into himself, and hope to better his chances of healing by God or having God prevent him from getting a disease. “Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.” (Job 14:4). Whose plan do you think it is to inject everyone with a substance that defiles or makes them unclean?
Are you sick? Are you fearful of getting sick? Let God be your guide and protector. He can prevent you from getting sick by His creative, healing power which He uses when we cooperate with His laws both moral and physical (aka natural law). “Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” (Psalms 91:9-10).
